Accountant - Waco, TX

Pattillo, Brown & Hill, LLP is searching for a new addition to our Accounting and Business Consulting Team who possesses a client forward mindset and positive attitude. The ideal candidate will oversee monthly financial reporting including bookkeeping and general ledger maintenance in QuickBooks. Additional duties will include payroll processing & reporting and sales tax reporting. Characteristics key to success include:

Corporate Auditor - Waco, TX

The Audit Associate is responsible for executing planning and fieldwork procedures -applying most areas of GAAP as necessary and documenting and assessing various control systems under the direct supervision of the Senior Audit Associate. Industries audited would comprise, but not be limited to, Corporate, Financial Institutions, Non-Profits, and employee benefit plans.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in accounting or equivalent
  • Entry Level Public Accounting/Audit Knowledge and/or internship
  • Understanding of GAAP and GAAS

Experience
  • Prior work or internship experience in accounting preferred 

 

License/Certifications

  • Actively seeking CPA preferred 

 

Software

  • Microsoft Office Products, including Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Government Auditor - Waco, TX

As an Audit Associate, this is what part of your work entails:

 

  • Take part in annual audits with various clients, concentrating on local governments.
  • Participate in all aspects of financial statement preparation and assist with the planning of the engagements.
  • Perform technical auditing work while continuing to develop technical skills.
  • Maintain an exceptional relationship with clients to increase customer happiness by working with client management and staff at all levels to perform audit services. You are a key factor in growing our firm.
  • We promote partnership and collaboration, so you will work closely with your audit team to identify and resolve client issues discovered during the audit process. We encourage you to be creative and become an expert to make a difference at our firm.
 

Qualifications

  • 0 to 2 years of recent and relevant public accounting external auditing experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in accounting or working towards your degree.
  • Your skills should include organization, social, and willingness to learn so that you can work effectively with clients and staff. This will help you succeed as well as build and manage positive relationships.
  • You will need to be able to multi-task since planning, executing, and wrapping up various areas of audit engagements may have to be performed concurrently.
  • Encourage you to meet or obtain the education requirements for CPA certification. If you already have a CPA license, even better! 
  • You must be proficient in Microsoft Excel as a minimum qualification.
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites as needed.

Financial Institutions Auditor - Waco, TX

Pattillo, Brown & Hill, LLP is searching for a new addition to our Financial Institution Audit Team who possesses a client-forward mindset and positive attitude. The ideal candidate will be able to work well with clients and co-workers but have an independent ability to complete tasks on their own efficiently.  Duties will begin with organizing financial institution audits covering internal controls and regulatory compliance, which then proceeds to auditing and completing audits on individual areas.  This role will introduce you to many departments within financial institutions and insights into processes and procedures at multiple institutions.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Set up and plan audit engagement activities.
  • Conduct audits of our financial institution clients as needed, including communication with clients, preparation and completion of work papers, and attendance at exit discussions.
  • Finalize work papers and prepare reports.
  • Research and identify answers to non-complex questions.
  • Develop and use skills to communicate directly with clients, fellow department personnel, and firm management.
  • Work independently or within a group as client needs dictate, including the willingness to take direction from seniors, managers, and partners. 
 

The knowledge and skills required include:

 

  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe software.
  • Developing skills to communicate directly with existing clients, prospective clients, colleagues, management, and examiners regarding financial institution matters. 
  • Understands firm ethics and demonstrates them consistently.

 

The qualified person will have a Bachelor’s degree.  Preferred qualifications include previous work experience in the banking industry and/or with regulatory compliance or lending experience.

Tax Associate - Waco, TX

A Tax Associate prepares various types of federal and state tax returns for clients in a variety of industries and researches related key issues as needed. A Tax Associate assists with other tax planning and consulting projects.
A PBH Associate is a team player who exhibits initiative, accepts responsibility, communicates effectively, and manages multiple concurrent assignments of varying sizes and complexity. A PBH Associate enjoys flexibility, meaningful and diverse client work, a supportive and innovative work environment, three (3) weeks of paid time off per year in addition to a free Friday program during the summer, and many more benefits.
